Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from a scarce win at Wisconsin
By Nick Popio
Dusty May is working wonders in his first year as Michigan basketball headman. He's doing things that Juwan Howard couldn't do to save his job. It only took him eight games to win seven. His Big Ten debut will go down as a smashing success with a win in Madison. Wisconsin scored a season-low 64 points in the loss. That's now seven out of the eight games where Michigan's defense has given up 70 or fewer points. That ranks them in the top 20 nationally, of that defensive category.
Here are three takeaways from the quad-one victory for Michigan basketball at the Kohl Center.
1. Michigan Basketball already has more top 25 wins then last year
The last two wins over Xavier and Wisconsin are more then the one ranked win they had over the Badgers in Juwan Howard's swan song at his alma mater. These two are more impressive as well. No one could have ever imagined that the Wolverines would be this good, this fast. The Wolverines are as hot as any team in the country right now.
In Joe Lunardi's latest bracketology, he has Michigan basketball as a No. 8 seed. That was before Tuesday night's win at a place where Wisconsin lost only three times a season ago. Michigan now extends their winning streak to three in a row over the Badgers and notched their first win at the Kohl Center since 2021.
