485. Score . 64. 493. Final. 67

If there was any doubt about Michigan basketball being a Big Ten title contender, the Wolverines erased it on Tuesday night with a 67-64 road win over 11th-ranked Wisconsin.

Max Klesmit drilled a 3-pointer for the Badgers with 2:39 left to give Wisconsin a 64-61 lead. It feels like the Badgers always hit big shots like that in the Kohl Center.

Yet, they wouldn't make another being held scoreless over the final 2:39. Wisconsin got a few tying shot attempts up, including one after a turnover in the final minute, but the Michigan defense survived it all. Vlad Goldin scored the last six points on the offensive end and the Wolverines got a massive win.

Goldin scored 24 points, grabbed five rebounds, and was 9-of-16 from the field. Danny Wolf flat-out dominated. Wolf played 31 minutes and scored 20 points in addition to seven rebounds, five assists, five blocks, and three steals. The 7-footer also had just one turnover.

Dusty May changed the game by giving the ball to Danny Wolf in ball-screen situations with Goldin. The Badgers had no answer and the two bigs scored 44 points.

Roddy Gayle added nine and Michigan basketball won shooting just 24 percent from 3-point range. That's because Wisconsin made just 22 percent. The Badgers shot just 34 percent from the field as a team and here are the gut reactions to a quadrant-1 win for Michigan basketball.

Gut reactions to Michigan basketball beating Wisconsin

  • It's funny that people thought Danny Wolf and Vlad Goldin couldn't play together.
  • Goldin showed he can be one of the best bigs in the Big Ten on Tuesday. The rest of the league better watch out if he plays like that.
  • The same can be said about Danny Wolf. He's a star. The moves he was making and the shots he created were impressive for a 7-footer. You just don't see guys handle and shoot the ball like that.
  • Wolf was an imact player on defense too.
  • The Wolverines defense is elite. They backed up their top-10 Kenpom ranking.
  • Dusty May makes everything look so easy.
  • This team can contend for the Big Ten championship.
  • Go Blue!
