Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from a persistent win over Oregon

Up by as many as 14, Oregon whittled it down to a deuce until Michigan concluded it.

2. Dusty May is untouchable at Crisler

With Wednesday's win, May is 11-0 at home. He's the first coach to accomplish that at Michigan. His 12th oppurtunity will come against a blazing hot Purdue team next Tuesday on Peacock. Before that he heads to his alma mater where the home crowd will be tempting him to kick Mike Woodson to the curb and reignite a sleeping giant as their head honcho.

Not even John Beilein or Steve Fisher could replicate that with the fab five. The most notable achievement that these three coaches have in common though, it's that they all reached the final four. May is on a path to match Fisher's championship season of 1989. It won't happen this year, but I wouldn't be perplexed if the maize and blue are playing for a title again within the next five years or so.

Juwan Howard lost two games at home during the shortened season of 2021. John Beilein's best was when they lost to Villanova in the national championship campaign. They got outlasted by Purdue by one point. May's got five more home tilts to smash the record.
