2. Michigan's defense forced Penn State into a turnover frenzy
The Nittany Lions have had the most turnovers all season, 18. Normally, Michigan basketball is on the losing end of the turnover battle, but not on Monday. As a result, the Wolverines scored 19 points off of them. The announcing crew mentioned the difference between Michigan and the second-to-last-place team in the conference regarding turning the ball over, which is such a revealing stat.
Michigan had nine turnovers, which is the lowest total that they have had since the Xavier win in Fort Meyers. Penn State managed to score 16 points off of the nine giveaways by the Wolverines. That kept them within reach. Penn State only averages about 12 per game, compared to a snuff above where the Wolverines rank in the bottom of the entire NCAA.
Ace Baldwin had the most in the loss, while no Michigan basketball player had more than two. It was the first time, besides the Northwestern win, that Danny Wolf had less than three in a contest since the Oklahoma defeat. He's been the one that the masses have complained about the most.
