Spring ball is just one month away for the Michigan football program, which announced when it will start spring practice, and hold its annual spring game.

One of the best things about the spring transfer portal window being eliminated is that coaches don't seem as spooked by spring games. They didn't want other programs to see their players and try to poach them.

For that reason, Michigan football tape delayed its spring game. It wasn't broadcast live. Other programs went to Pro-Bowl-style games. Frankly, it was lame.

That won't happen in 2026, at least with Michigan. According to Clayton Sayfie of Rivals, the Wolverines will start spring ball on March 17. The spring game will be held on April 18.

A much-anticipated spring for Michigan football

There will be plenty of interest from Michigan football fans this spring. That's always true when there is a new head coach.

Kyle Whittingham is known for being similar to Jim Harbaugh, when it comes to media access, so I wouldn't expect a bunch of open practices this spring.

I would expect an actual football game, though, a hard-hitting one at that. Bryce Underwood will be watched closely. His development is the key to this program making a push for a playoff spot.

The Wolverines got some good news on Monday, as Andrew Marsh announced his return publicly. It was expected, but it seems like he finally put pen to paper. Underwood has been surrounded by some dynamic weapons, such as Marsh and JJ Buchanan. He will also have a dedicated quarterbacks coach, which he didn't have last season.

Seeing how it all comes together on both sides of the ball will be exciting. Frankly, spring ball can't get here soon enough.
