Michigan fans can't count down the days fast enough for the start of both football and basketball seasons. For football, it sis hte start of a new era, the Kyle Whittingham era, and if his offseason has shown anything, it is that he has big plans for Michigan football.

For basketball, fans can't wait to see the new squad head coach Dusty May has put together after winning a National Championship this past season with an entire starting lineup made up of transfers. For once, Michigan fans can be excited for what happens both on the football field and on the basketball court at the same time.

It won't be a long wait once the football season begins, as Michigan basketball will start its title defense in November, and it could begin with a huge matchup no Wolverines fan will want to miss. After reports of the game being scheduled, it is official that Michigan will face UConn on November 6, in what will be a National Championship rematch against Dan Hurley and the Huskies.

Michigan's National Championship rematch will be followed by heated Michigan-Michigan State football rivalry game

What is better than one big game for the Wolverines? Well, that is an easy answer, and that is two big games for the Wolverines. Once fans are done celebrating what will hopefully be a win for the Wolverines on the hardwood on Friday, November 6, the attention will be turned to the football field for a heated rivalry.

No, this is not The Game, but it is the second-best thing as Michigan will take on Michigan State at home in The Big House. Unfortunately, the Michigan vs. UConn game won't be played in Ann Arbor, but in TD Garden in Boston for the TNT Sports Hall of Fame Series Boston.

So, while fans won't get to celebrate in Ann Arbor if they attend the basketball game, they will still get to watch Michigan hopefully take down Michigan State on the football field as well. This won't be the same Michigan State team, as they are now led by new head coach Pat Fitzgerald

Win or lose, this will be a huge sports weekend for Michigan with the National Champions playing in a rematch and the second-best rivalry Michigan has playing on the football field. It is a weekend Michigan fans will want to keep open in order to be in front of the TV watching every moment.
