Michigan football has landed a punter from the transfer portal, just what every Wolverines fan wanted.

Former UNLV punter Cameron Brown has signed with the Michigan football program, according to Chris Hummer of CBS Sports. This was reported on Wednesday, and while it's not a commitment fans have been waiting for, there's no doubt it fills a need.

Special teams were atrocious the past two seasons for the Wolverines. Hell, there was a shanked punt in "The Game" that gave Ohio State great field position in what was still a one-score game.

New special teams coach Kerry Coombs has tried to rectify that with the addition of Brown, who is an Australian punter who averaged 43.8 yards per attempt on 46 attempts last season. He didn't have much hangtime with his punts, just 3.6 seconds, which, according to The Wolverine, ranked 12th out of 15 Mountain West punters.

However, Brown had 17 of his 46 punts wind up inside the 20. Only three resulted in touchbacks. He's also got three years of eligibility, and if he works out, could solve the punter question until 2029.

Michigan also kicking tires on backup quarterbacks

With Davis Warren and Mikey Keene entering the transfer portal, along with Jadyn Davis, the Wolverines need another scholarship quarterback. All of theirs are freshman or redshirt freshman who haven't played.

Former Elon quarterback, Landen Clark visited Michigan on Wednesday. According to EJ Holland of the Wolverine, he's got "freakish" arm talent. He also had 18 touchdowns last season at the FCS level.

Clark passed for 2,321 yards and 18 touchdowns while rushing for 614 yards and 11 scores, too. The Wolverines need a reliable backup for Underwood, and Clark feels like a great fit. Deuce Adams, the Louisville backup in 2025, is also expected to visit.

Michigan is expected to land one of two quarterbacks.
