With how busy Dusty May has been in going after portal targets this offseason, it's easy to forget that there's help from the high school level on the way next campaign. And with that, 5-star playmaker Brandon McCoy can't wait to make a difference in Ann Arbor.

Need another reason to be excited about his future with the reigning national champs? Leave it to Michigan hoops General Manager Kyle Church to do that for you. While speaking with 247Sports, Church didn't hold back with his thoughts on the sharpshooter, leaving no doubt he's going to be a total stud from Day 1 with the Wolverines:

Michigan fans should be fired up about Brandon McCoy's future with the team

In recent days, there's been plenty of disappointment with transfer wing Juke Harris committing to Tennessee over Michigan. It felt like Harris was a missing piece in making sure this group gets back to the Final Four next season. However, one transfer loss won't define May's offseason.

It also shouldn't make people forget that Michigan will be bringing in McCoy, Quinn Costello, Lincoln Cosby, Joseph Hartman, Malachi Brown, Marcus Moller, Moustapha Thiam, Jalen Reed and J.P. Estrella. Oh, and there's still a chance that Morez Johnson Jr. and Aday Mara could also pull their names out of the NBA Draft.

So, yeah, it's safe to say that May has been cookin' of late. And with McCoy in particular, the California product will be making his way to the college ranks as a 5-star prospect and the No. 2 shooting guard in the country for the 2026 class. He's also the No. 11 player overall.

With those rankings, a lot of pressure will follow. Luckily for McCoy, he's going to get developed by May, who is inarguably one of the best coaches in the game. While rumors continue to fly that he could give the NBA a look, the expectation is that May will stay with Michigan.

The veteran head coach has a repeat title on his mind and it's going to take everyone being at their best in order for that to happen. McCoy is on that list, as he'll need to play beyond his years in 2026-27 for Michigan to have a shot at winning it all again. Judging by what Church had to say about him, Michigan has all the confidence in the world that the youngster will step up and be a force.
