There are many players who go down as some of the greatest in Michigan football history. Of course, Tom Brady is probably the first one that comes to mind, but there are others like Desmond Howard, Aidan Hutchinson, and Charles Woodson.

Woodson has always been a large part of Michigan, even after his time in Ann Arbor, but the Wolverines are probably about to see him a lot more on campus. Charles Woodson's son, Charles Woodson Jr., just made his college commitment, and it has to make both his father and every Michigan fan very happy.

Michigan lands a commitment from 3-star safety Charles Woodson Jr.

Woodson Jr. received many different offers from big programs like Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Florida State, and others. While those offers had to have been very enticing, there clearly was something about following in his father's footsteps and heading to Ann Arbor.

Three-star safety Charles Woodson Jr. has officially announced his commitment to Michigan, making him a Wolverines legacy for Kyle Whittingham.

Woodson Jr. may not be the highest-ranked recruit in the Class of 2027, but if he is anything like his father, he could have a very bright future with the Wolverines. His father was once a Heisman Trophy winner with Michigan and went on to have a very successful NFL career, mainly with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Michigan began showing interest in Woodson Jr. late in 2025, making an offer shortly after. Don't get it twisted though, Woodson Jr. didn't earnt he offer just from his name, but because of his play as well. The Lake Nona safety has proved he can play at the Division I level with a stellar junior season, and still has a senior season to prove it even more.

Woodson Jr. is not the first legacy recruit in the Class of 2027 for Michigan, as he joined Tommy Carr, the brother of Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr, and grandson of former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr. Woodson was once coached by Carr, so now that his grandson and Woodson's son will be in the same recruiting class, it will bring back great memories for Michigan fans.

Michigan now has 10 recruits in the 2027 recruiting class, giving them the No. 19 class in the country according to 247Sports, and No. 13 class in the nation according to Rivals. Kyle Whittingham sure has been busy in Ann Arbor since taking over, and fans have to love it.
