The Michigan Wolverines are getting ready to make a splash. For a little while now, everyone has been waiting to see who will replace Sherrone Moore and all signs are now pointing to Kyle Whittingham getting the job. As of this writing, no announcement has been made, but it's expected soon.
The pros and cons of Michigan football potentially hiring Kyle Whittingham
Once things are official between Whittingham and Michigan, there's no question that the veteran coach is going to hit the ground running in terms of filling out his staff and take care of business out on the recruiting trail. Does he already have his offensive coordinator in mind?
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, his sources are telling him that once things are over the line for Whittingham and Michigan, he's expected to target current Utah OC Jason Beck for the same job over in Ann Arbor. That'd sure be something:

Michigan and Kyle Whittingham are expected to target Utah OC Jason Beck
This would be fantastic news for Michigan, but some rough news for the Utes. That's not something for the Michigan faithful to worry about, as fans are waiting for Warde Manuel to officially give him the position and for Whittingham to make some big-name hires.
Beck surely would be an impressive get. He first got his start in coaching as a GA for BYU in 2007 and he's worked his way up the ranks. He's had stops with BYU, LSU, Weber State, Simon Fraser, Virginia, Syracuse, New Mexico and now Utah.
He just made the move to the Utah campus ahead of the 2025 season, taking over as quarterbacks coach and OC. With all of his experience and familiarity with Whittingham, it would make sense why he'd be given one of the first looks for a new job with the Wolverines.
At the same time, it feels like Beck could be a great coach and mentor for former 5-star signee Bryce Underwood. Rumors continue to swirl that the young QB could decide to transfer, but the quicker Whittingham is hired and an OC is put in place, the better for Michigan as a whole. There are a lot of moving parts here, but it sure seems like exciting days are on the way for Wolverines supporters everywhere.
