After the sudden firing of Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore, the Wolverines have to move fast with their new hire, and Josh Pate believes there is one key prospect.

The Michigan Wolverines were a late addition to the coaching carousel after the news of Sherrone Moore being fired rocked the college football world. His firing reportedly was not due to performance but because of results from an investigation of an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Shortly after being fired, Moore was also detained by the police, and charges were recently filed, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.

With such a premier program now without a head coach shortly after the conclusion of the regular season, the Wolverines will want to move fast to get someone new in the building. Michigan is set to take on Texas in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on Wednesday, December 31, in Orlando, Florida. Michigan has named Biff Poggi as the interim head coach for the bowl game.

Josh Pate believes Kenny Dillingham should be the name circled for Michigan

There are many names that have circles around the Michigan opening, two of the biggest being Alabama's Kalen DeBoer and Arizona State's Kenny Dillingham. Many are weighing in on these two candidates, but On3's Josh Pate believes there is one prospect that makes the most sense.

"I feel kind of strongly about this," Pate said on ESPN's Get Up on Friday morning. "That job looks tailor-made for a guy like Kenny Dillingham."

Pate loves everything that Dillingham is, as he is a coach that college football fans know. He is a younger coach that brings a fresh look to the sport, but he is also an incredibly intense head coach that knows how to get his guys to perform. Dillingham led Arizona State to the College Football Playoff in his first season in the Big 12, almost taking down the Texas Longhorns.

There is one key aspect of what Dillingham has done in his career that Pate believes should set him apart from other candidates.

"Look at what he has been able to do at the quarterback position and what Michigan has not been able to do with the quarterback position, look at the toughness his teams play with," Pate said.

While of course, there are names like DeBoer's that are also circling around, Pate would go with Dillingham after seeing everything he has done with so little. The resources that Dillingham has at Arizona State are just a fraction of what he would have at Michigan.

Pate believes that DeBoer is still a great name Michigan should also go for, but he truly doesn't believe that DeBoer will leave Alabama right now.
