Before the 2025 season, every Michigan fan was chomping at the bit to see freshman five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood in action. While the anticipation is there yet again for Underwood in year 2, there is another new freshman Wolverines fans can't wait to see in the Maize and Blue.
Five-star running back Savion Hiter, a recruit Michigan fans have been dying to see on the field for some time now, will officially begin his career as a Wolverine this season. Now, as everyone learned with Underwood's first season, expectations should be tempered, but with the hype Hiter is already getting from his teammates and coaches, Michigan fans should get excited for Week 1.
Fellow running back Jordan Marshall is helping build that hype with his latest social media profile picture, one that shows him and Hiter together in Michigan uniforms. The duo that will no doubt be Marshall and Hiter is one that could be not just the best in the Big Ten, but in all of college football.

Marshall hyping up Hiter should have Michigan fans so excited for what is to come this season.
The expectations for Michigan RB Savion Hiter only grow as the 2026 season gets closer
Michigan's offense in 2025 left many Michigan fans wanting more. Underwood didn't quite live up to the hype, and the offense suffered because of it. Now, heading into the 2026 season, Underwood will be playing under a new coaching staff, and the weapons around him have improved, including the addition of the 2026 No. 1 running back prospect in Hiter.
Marshall led Michigan in rushing last season with 932 rushing yards and tied Justice Haynes with 10 rushing touchdowns. While Haynes was the main back for the first half of the season, an injury took him out for the rest of the way, leaving the majority of the work for Marshall. Now, Marshall will most likely split time with Hiter, but that profile picture change shows he isn't too upset about it.
Hiter has received a lot of praise since showing up in the spring for the Wolverines. Even one of his new teammates on the defensive side of the ball said they went home sore with how hard Hiter hit him, and had never been hit that hard by a running back before.
Even assistant running backs coach Fred Jackson has joined in on the praise of Hiter, going as far as saying he is one of the best freshmen he has ever brought to Michigan.
"I've brought in a lot of good football players over the years, but as a freshman, he's probably the most talented guy I've seen that I brought in here as a true freshman. He's already beyond what I think a freshman is capable of doing," Jackson said in an interview with 'In the Trenches.'
Jackson also spoke on Hiter's talent, calling him special, but best of all, a very big competitor. While Michigan fans want to see more of a passing game out of Michigan this season, the run game can't be forgotten either. Plus, with a talent like Hiter, how can you not put the ball in his hands?
As mentioned earlier, while expectations are high, they need to be tempered just a little as Hiter is only a freshman and college football is a different feel from high school football. It is hard not to be giddy, though, about what Hiter could bring to this Michigan offense.
