Another week is in the books for the Michigan Wolverines with a 24-7 win over the Washington Huskies. With the Wolverines 5-2 and back in the Top 25 rankings at 25 (AP), it's time to get into their grades for the game.
Offense: B
Bryce Underwood made adjustments in the game and didn't throw every ball as hard as he could. Semaj Morgan's drops are continuing to be concerning. I'd like to see Donaven McCulley get more looks. Freshman receiver Andrew Marsh continues to impress. The tight ends stepped up big in this game. Jordan Marshall did a nice job with Justice Haynes out with an injury. The offensive line was better this week. Michigan definitely left points off the board, but did what they needed to on offense.
Defense: A
Michigan sacked the quarterback twice and had three interceptions. They also held Washington to 40 yards rushing. They allowed a few long drives but stopped the Huskies when it mattered most. Derrick Moore stood out the most with two sacks and a forced fumble. I have no clue why Rod Moore wasn't playing, but it didn't cost the Wolverines in this one.
Special Teams: C
Michigan only punted twice, but a missed field goal was the only downfall in this game for special teams.
Coaching: B
The play calling on offense was much better this week. It's still too conservative at times. Let Underwood loose a little bit more early in the game. On defense, play your best players.
Overall: B
There's always room for improvement, but the Wolverines looked more prepared this week, and hopefully that carries over next week against Michigan State.
