Injuries have been an issue throughout the 2025 season for the Michigan football offensive line. That continued on Saturday with what looks like another massive blow to the Wolverines.
Evan Link, who was much-maligned as a redshirt freshman last season, started to emerge at left tackle in 2025. He wasn't a glaring weakness at any rate, but the Wolverines appear as though they wil have to do without him after he was carted off the field in the first half of the Washington game.
Blake Frazier, a 6-foot-6, 295-pound redshirt freshman from Texas, has taken over his spot. There have been some good moments and some bad moments. He was bowled over on the long run by Bryce Underwood. The quarterback was able to spin away and pick up a first down, but that block was unsettling.
Frazier didn't play at all last season as a true freshman. He signed with Michigan football as a four-star recruit coming out of high school, one who ranked No. 159 overall nationally, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Frazier is a highly-touted player. He was actually ranked higher than Link in high school.. He's also not far below Andrew Sprague, a redshirt freshman starting on the right side. Andrew Guarnera, another redshirt freshman, has taken over the job at right guard. He's expected to be the starting center in 2026.
It's a huge bummer to lose Link, especially since the season-ending injury to former five-star Andrew Babalola zapped Michigan football of any true depth. Frazier was a four-star recruit for a reason, though. Sprauge and Guarnera have stepped up. They haven't been perfect. He doesn't have to be either, but he does need to play well.
Michigan football literally has no other options.
