Four-star EDGE Ifeanyi Emedobi really needs to brush up on his Michigan football history

Kyle Whittingham did a bang-up job putting together his first recruiting class at Michigan. To build a Top 20 class in the first offseason as a new head coach without anything proven on the field, at least in his new stomping grounds, is impressive, and Whittingham brought in some top-notch players.

Four-star edge rusher Ifeanyi Emedobi is one of those players in Whittingham's 2027 recruiting class at Michigan, actually one of the later commitments in the 2027 class. Emedobi's choices were littered with Big Ten schools, but he chose Michigan in the end, and now he apparently needs to brush up on his Wolverines history.

In a recent video, Emedobi is seen meeting NFL legend Rod Woodson, the cousin of Michigan and NFL legend Charles Woodson. Rod was impressed to hear about Emedobi and his football skill, and when the four-star edge rusher shared that he was committed to Michigan, Rod told him that his cousin went to Michigan too. Emedobi's answer is a little troubling, as he had no clue who Charles Woodson was.

"You don't know who Charles Woodson is?" Rod Woodson said. "Oh Lord have mercy!"

Now, Emedobi's reason for not knowing who Charles Woodson was is that he only started playing football a year ago, so his football history is shaky. Some Michigan fans may not let that slide, but it's a fair excuse right now. Emedobi will need to brush up on his Michigan football history, though, especially with who else is in his recruiting class.

So, not only does Emedobi not know who Charles Woodson is, arguably one of the greatest Michigan players of all time, but he also may not know he will be playing with his son, Charles Woodson Jr. The Michigan legacy was an early summer commit for Whittingham, and while he may not boast about the name on his back, Michigan fans will be hypes to see that name back on the field.

The fact that Emedobi is in the same class as Charles Woodson Jr. honestly makes this whole interaction a lot more humorous. It might be something he and the legend's son can bond over once they are in Ann Arbor together.

Emedobi is set to show up in Ann Arbor next season, coming in at the No. 26 edge rusher in the Class of 2027 according to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings. That is a pretty good ranking considering he hasn't played football for very long.
