The 2025 NBA draft will take place on Wednesday night. It should be a solid night for the Michigan basketball program as two players -- Danny Wolf and Vlad Goldin -- have a chance to get drafted.
The big-man duo dubbed Area 50-1 led the Wolverines to the Sweet 16, as well as a Big Ten tournament championship in their only season playing in Ann Arbor.
Michigan basketball head coach Dusty May recruited Goldin, a 7-foot-1 big man, who was among the leaders in the Big Ten in field-goal percentage this past season, from FAU. Wolf came to Michigan from Yale.
Pundits questioned whether both could play on the court at the same time. But with Wolf's ability to guard fours, handle the ball, and shoot, it was a perfect pairing. May would use the bigs in ball-screen situations together, which proved to be nearly unstoppable.
Final mock drafts for Michigan basketball players Danny Wolf and Vlad Goldin
Wolf is expected to be a first-round pick. CBS Sports has the Michigan basketball star landing with the Minnesota Timberwolves at 17th overall. ESPN has Wolf mocked in the same range, going 18th overall to the Washington Wizards. The Bleacher Report also has Wolf going in the top 20 to the Utah Jazz (21st overall).
However, Goldin is also expected to be drafted on Wednesday night, at least according to the mock drafts from CBS and ESPN. CBS has the big man landing with the Houston Rockets with the 59th overall selection. ESPN has Goldin going even higher, to the Cavs at 49th overall.
Goldin averaged 16.6 points last season to go along with seven rebounds and 1.4 blocks. He also shot 60 percent from the field. Wolf scored 13.2 per game. He also averaged 9.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists in addition to shooting 33.6 percent from 3-point range (1.0 3-pointers per game).
Wolf would be Michigan's 12th first-round pick since 2013. It will also end a two-year drought. Michigan had two first-round picks in 2023, but none in 2024.
