After a scare that included a ride to the hospital, Elliot Cadeau is fine and back with the Wolverines in preparation for Saturday's Final Four showdown against Arizona. The point guard had an allergic reaction that forced him to miss the team trip for precautionary reasons, but he was back practicing Thursday afternoon.
The question many fans have is what happened and how it could happen, but Dusty May offered a pretty simple explanation.
Elliot Cadeau is in Indianapolis and feeling good after having a slight allergic reaction to a cashew nut yesterday. Had a bad experience when he was younger ... got tested right away to avoid a repeat. pic.twitter.com/kBW8CdFTRS

"We had the same post-game meal for about the last six trips because it seemed to be working well," May said in an interview with The Field of 68. Â "We threw in a curve ball with another spot and there was a cashew [salad] dressing with one of the meals. He tried it without reading the label...and because of a number of reasons, it slipped through the cracks, and he just had an allergic reaction."
Nut allergies are a very serious thing and, at a top program like Michigan, the nutritionists are normally on top of everything to make sure the players that have a nut allergy or issues with gluten, or whatever, are handled up front. This seemed more like a pretty innocent mistake and, thankfully, Cadeau is fine.

May said that once it was discovered, Cadeau was able to get his EpiPen and went into the training room where he was held under observation while the team continued their travel plans to Indianapolis
"We didn't want him to be on a bus or flight in case something else happened, so we held him back for precautionary reasons," May added."
Cadeau started his career at North Carolina and was one of the top acquisitions for Michigan in the transfer portal. He has been as good as advertised, averaging 10.2 points per game and 5.8 assists. He had eight points and 10 assists in Sunday's blowout win over Tennessee.
"He's fine, and we need him," May said. "He's the emotional leader of our group. He's the brain trust of this team."
