We may very well be looking at the next great rockstar coach in men's college basketball, if we are not already... Dusty May has been a revelation since coming over to Michigan from Florida Atlantic. His juggernaut Wolverines not only improved to 28-2 overall and 18-1 in Big Ten play in their close call at Iowa on Thursday night, but Michigan just did something that was borderline impossible in that one...
May reflected after the fact with a postgame speech about Michigan going undefeated on the road.
"Man, I'm proud to be a part of this team. You guys are about the right stuff. You guys are for each other. You guys support each other. You guys are ready to make the play when it needs to be made. There's no B.S., and guys, that's why we're undefeated on the road. And that's why we're Big Ten champs. And we still have a long way to go. But fellas, we can't let anything in front of us change that."
Michigan did not bring its A game to Iowa City, but still survived a close one by the score of 71-68.
"Because what you guys have as a unit is freaking special, men. If we don't do it next year, I don't know if it'll ever happen again. A team going undefeated on the road. I don't know if ... I mean, 50 years is a long time, fellas. You guys know the players that have played in this league and the teams that played in this league. Fab Five played in this league. So for you guys to do that, is impressive, fellas. It's impressive. Got a lot of work to do. Let's bring it in. Let's get some tempo action."
This speech is why May has a chance to become the greatest coach in Michigan program history.

Right now, Michigan is about as sure of a lock to be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament as possible.
Dusty May sends the right kind of message to his players after Iowa game
When looking at Michigan's dazzling NCAA Tournament resume, several things jump off the page. The Wolverines have a NET rating of 2. They are 12-1 in Quad 1 games, 9-1 vs. Quad 2 opponents, and a combined 7-0 vs. everybody else. Michigan has played one of the toughest schedules in the country, and have shown up in just about every occasion. They only have two high-quality losses on the year.
Their one Quad 1 defeat was a neutral-site affair vs. top-seeded Duke in Washington, D.C. only a short while ago. Their only other defeat came at home to tournament-bound Wisconsin team at home by three points. Michigan has only lost two games this season by a combined eight points. If any team can win the national championship out of the Big Ten this season, it might as well be Michigan...
Overall, May has undeniably emerged as the galvanizing force for the Michigan faithful to rally around. Juwan Howard had his moments leading his alma mater, but May is on another level as a head coach. For him to do what he did at Florida Atlantic previously and then be able to carry that over to a traditional power like Michigan is huge. No team is better prepared to play on the road than this one.
With only home games and neutral-site affairs left on the docket, Michigan just did the impossible!
