Look. We will really know how good this team is in the next few hours. If Michigan prevails over Arizona, this could all be a moot point. However, if Michigan were to succumb to the Tennessee curse after what transpired in the Elite Eight, surely, Illinois or UConn fans will claim the scouting did not work for May at all. He knew everyone was watching his every move, and he still did this anyway...
For a program that has not won a national title since 1989, you cannot take anything for granted. That is the only one in Michigan program history. The Fab Five did not get it done. None of Beilein's best teams got it done. Just the 1988-89 team. That is it... Michigan may be strong and powerful, but we have seen David conquer Goliath before. Not to say a loss would be biblical, but anything can happen.
Right now, May and his team need to hone in and focus on the task at hand, which is to beat Arizona by any means necessary. These have been the two best teams in college basketball all season long. While it would have been great to see them play for a national championship, the Final Four will have to do. At this time, Michigan cannot overlook Arizona for an instant, or it could backfire on them fast.
