It's hard to know where Donovan Edwards, the talented Michigan football running back, will get selected in the 2025 NFL draft, but so far, the pre-draft process has been kind to him.
Edwards improved his stock in the 2025 NFL draft at the Senior Bowl. Not only did he run the ball well, he flashed the recieving skills that Michigan football fans have been yelling about for years. Fans wanted the staff to throw Edwards the ball more, it just didn't happen.
Still, Edwards is elite with the ball in space. If he's able to make one or two cuts, it's usually a touchdown or at least a very long run. Edwards ran for 2,251 yards during his Michigan football career and averaged 5.3 yards per attempt.
Edwards scored 24 total touchdowns and had over 3,000 total yards from scrimmage. He also threw two touchdown passes. This past season, Edwards averaged 4.6 yards per attempt. Behind an offensive line that wasn't as good as 2021-23 or a quarterback position that wasn't up to snuff, Edwards still had some big runs.

And Saturday at the NFL draft combine, Edwards ran the 40-meter dash in 4.45. He also impressed NFL Network analysts with his performance. Charles Davis remarked, "Well done" during one of the running back drills.

The 40-time was always going to help Edwards but he backed it up by running in the 4.4 range. He won't come off the board during the first or even the second round, but maybe in round three or four a team might take a shot on him.
A smart NFL team will get a really good player. In 2022, he averaged 7.1 yards per carry. He's got the potential to do more than he showed with Michigan football, especially if he's unlocked as a receiver, and his showing at the NFL combine will only cause his stock to rise more.
