Michigan football running back Donovan Edwards opened the game against Michigan State with a perfect passing record -- 3-for-3 with a touchdown.
Edwards completed another pass on Saturday night and for the second time during his Michigan football career, Edwards threw a touchdown pass.
This one came against Michigan State. The Wolverines were leading 17-10. At one point, they trailed 7-0 but Davis Warren got hot.
Edwards caught a pass that led to a field goal late in the second half. This time, Michigan football played on a tendency and used the halfback pass at the perfect moment.
It was a 23-yard touchdown pass for Edwards that put Michigan football in front 24-10 on the Spartans early in the fourth quarter.
However, it wasn't the first touchdown pass of Edwards career. As a freshman, Michigan football called the exact same play -- a halfback pass -- and threw it to Roman Wilson in the Big Ten championship game against Iowa back in 2021.
It felt like that might have been the dagger, except the Spartans refuse go away. Michigan State scored a touchdown on the next drive and then the offense wasn't able to get a score.
That allowed Sparty to climb back into it. Regardless, it was a great moment for Donovan Edwards who always seems to find a way to deliver a big play in the biggest of games.
Hopefully, it will be enough to deliver a win and keep the Paul Bunyan Axe home in Ann Arbor.
