To the victors go the spoil! The Michigan Wolverines absolutely annihilated the Tennessee Volunteers in their Elite Eight game to come out of the Midwest Region. It was not particularly close. This is what happens when a juggernaut No. 1 seed takes on a just-happy-to-be-there No. 6 seed. It got ugly fast! Meanwhile, look for Dave Portnoy and all the Michigan faithful to be making their way to Indianapolis.
Portnoy took to social media to let it be known he had no respect for Tennessee coming in to this.
"Listen. I told you this team couldn't play with us. Six seed out of the weak-ass SEC. I'm not surprised. 20-0 run. Not surprised. Could be a 40-0 run. Not surprised. Tennessee people, go have a drink, go back to Knoxville. Big T, leave, go to bed, whatever you want to do. This was never in doubt. I said it was never in doubt before it started."
However, he did give Arizona plenty of credit ahead of its Final four matchup with Michigan next week.
"Now next game, yeah, I'm looking ahead. Arizona-Michigan, that's the national title game. It's all gonna come down to them. By far the best teams. But this Michigan team is playing such perfect basketball. It's enough to make a grown man weep!"
Michigan is back in the Final Four, hoping to win its second national championship on the hardwood!

Michigan will face Arizona out of the West, who is back in the Final Four for the first time since 2001.
Dave Portnoy believes Arizona vs. Michigan is the de facto national title
Look. Even though that could potentially be the best game of the three played in Indianapolis as a part of this year's Final Four, it is not the actual national championship. The winner of No. 1 Arizona vs. No. 1 Michigan will take on the winner of No. 3 Illinois vs. the winner of No. 1 Duke vs. No. 2 UConn. While Duke has had its moments as a national championship contender, doubt it starting to creep in.
UConn could potentially knock the Blue Devils off on Sunday evening. As for Brad Underwood's Fighting Illini, they will be the least likely team to win the Final Four, no matter who they face between Duke and UConn next. While UConn has won national championships recently under Dan Hurley, it has been a painfully long time for the four other contenders vying for it this year, including Michigan.
Michigan has made it back to the Final Four a handful of times since winning it all in 1989, but no Wolverines team to date has matched what that team accomplished over a generation ago. Right now, Michigan does feel like the favorites to come out on top. Yaxel Lendeborg is playing at another level right now. Dusty May is coaching laps around his competition. This should be Michigan's year.
For now, Portnoy and the rest of the Michigan faithful should enjoy this latest moment of excellence.
