CFB experts weigh in on Michigan football vs. Oklahoma

Maybe the most anticipated game on the college football schedule this week will take place in Norman, Oklahoma, as the Sooners, ranked 18th, will host the 15th-ranked Michigan football team.

The Sooners cruised to a win last week over Illinois State. New QB John Mateer, a transfer from Washington State, completed 30-of-37 passes for 392 yards and three touchdowns compared to just one interception.

Oklahoma should be solid defensively. Despite their struggles last season, the Sooners allowed just 21.5 points per game, which ranked 29th in college football. Brent Venables can coordinate a defense.

The offense has been a bigger issue. The offensive line has been an issue along with the QB position. Mateer is supposed to be the answer to that question and looked like it in Week 1, just like Bryce Underwood looked like the answer for Michigan football.

The difference is that Underwood is a true freshman, who was making his first start. It has numerous analysts saying that Underwood is "generational."

ESPN's Dan Orlovsky said that Underwood was the "most impressive" of the "unknowns" at quarterback which includes Ohio State's Julian Sayin.

However, Underwood will be making his first start, on the road. It's a different animal than New Mexico in the Big House. The spread has gone a little crazy, though. It was up to 6.5. Now, it's 4.5. The line is maybe reacting to some heavy Michigan bets, because 6.5 seemed like too big of a spread.

College football experts offer predictions on Michigan vs. Oklahoma

Regardless, some of national college football experts are starting to weigh in, and for Michigan, the predictions aren't favorable. Ari Wasserman and Andi Staples of On3.com each predicted Oklahoma to win the game outright, although Wasserman said U-M would cover the spread.

"I’ve spent the entire offseason telling everyone I thought Oklahoma was going to win this game. Some people agreed, but many rolled their eyes. When I saw the spread, though, I was kind of shocked. I thought Oklahoma would be laying 2.5 or something like that. Though I still feel good about Oklahoma winning the game, 6.5 points is too many with Michigan’s defensive line going up against a Sooners offensive front that still has a lot to prove," Wasserman wrote.

Ian Kenyon of the Bleacher Report predicted a 27-23 win for the Sooners, while known Michigan hater Pat Forde, who spent a bunch of time on his weekly column, the Forde-Yard-Dash, about the Wolverines filing an appeal (which why in Week 2 in this still even a topic?) believes OU will win.

We'll see what happens on Saturday but plenty of people are doubting the Wolverines.
