Having talent matters and Michigan football quarterback Bryce Underwood has that in spades. But character matters too, as we saw with guys like J.J. McCarthy and Blake Corum.
The Wolverines built a championship culture with good people, and if anyone was wondering how Underwood would fit into that, well, the answer is perfectly.
Bryce Underwood with a heart-warming moment
Underwood garnered a ton of national attention for his flip from LSU to Michigan football and the supposed NIL deal that helped make it happen. He was the No. 1 overall recruit and quarterback, even ranking higher than Arch Manning according to On3.
So Underwood was always going to get a ton of attention. Spring practices for Michigan football have only added to the hype.

However, on Thursday, Michigan football fans saw another side of Underwood as he teamed with Feldman Chevrolet and Blue By Ninety to gift a car to Belleville High School security guard Mych Darty, who developed a close relationship with Underwood.
“We’ve built a bond that is outside of sports, is outside of school, like he knows I care about him (and) I know he cares about me, because one of his memories is with my daughter,” Darty said. “What high school kid really cares about an adult’s children? Like, that’s a real bond. It’s not just fake, it’s real.”
“He’s always looking to help someone out, like he’s just a great person in general. He was raised right, like he does things the right way in every aspect of life.”
For Michigan football fans, it's just another reason to feel good about their next starting quarterback.
