It was only a matter of time before Michigan football named Bryce Underwood as its starting quarterback.
That will happen on Monday, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, who posted on X that head coach Sherrone Moore will officially name Underwood the starter.
Michigan is set to name five-star freshman Bryce Underwood as its starting quarterback with an official announcement set for tomorrow, sources tell @CBSSports.

It was labeled as breaking news but is actually far from it.
Bruce Underwood is the starting QB for Michigan football
Every observer who attended practice or watched Underwood in any capacity, has been saying that he's QB1 for the Wolverines. Sherrone Moore has essentially said it without saying it for weeks.
But now, according to Zenitz, there is no doubt about who will be starting for the Wolverines against New Mexico on Saturday.
Ever since Underwood flipped from LSU to Michigan football and signed as the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 class, U-M fans have been dreaming of him starting this season. The 6-foot-4, 228-pounder had a solid spring, and by all accounts, an even better fall.
Mikey Keene was added to compete with Underwood, but he's never quite been 100 percent. It's not even clear if he will be the backup, at least at the start of the season. Jake Garcia was another veteran added to the room, who has starting experience, but it was clear all along that this was going to be Bryce Underwood's job.
The freshman had to earn it. The competition wasn't stiff, but he wasn't handed the job either. Moore handled it the right way from the recruitment to the competition. Now, it's time to go win football games and build a program that can win another national championship.
It feels like the Wolverines are headed in that direction. The Underwood era starts on Saturday.
