Most people don't expect Michigan football to beat Ohio State.
The Wolverines have beaten Ohio State four years in a row. But this 2025 Ohio State team, which has been ranked No. 1 since the win over Texas in Week 1, has a different feel.
The defense is outstanding. Julian Sayin could be the Heisman Trophy winner. But for Michigan football, with a win over Maryland, the entire season comes down to upsetting Ohio State.
If the Wolverines win the next two games, they will make the College Football Playoff. You don't post a 10-2 season with the best win in college football and get left out.
Michigan football will need to put together four quarters of mistake-free football to beat Ohio State. The Wolverines were sharp on Saturday, outside of the mistakes, such as five turnovers and two missed field goals, plus all the penalties.
Still, the Wolverines found a way to win. Another win over Maryland would clinch a nine-win season and a likely berth in the Cheez-It Bowl (Citrus Bowl). That's where every single bowl projection is sending the Wolverines from CBS to ESPN.
Michigan football projected to play in Citrus Bowl
It makes sense. Michigan football could square off against Texas, Tennessee or even Vanderbilt. A Texas-Michigan matchup would be a dream come true for TV executives.
Michigan fans might be disappointed with the Citrus Bowl, however, if the Wolverines lose to Ohio State, a shot at a 10-win season against an SEC opponent wouldn't be a terrible way to spend the holidays, although the 12-team playoff still looms with two more wins.
