The Michigan Wolverines finished off the baseball regular season on Saturday with an 8-3 win over Indiana, giving Michigan its 33rd win of the season.
AJ Rausch had three hits in the win. Benny Casillas added two, along with a home run. Tate Carey earned his ninth win of the season as Michigan baseball improved to 16-14 in the Big Ten after dropping the first two games of the weekend series to Indiana.
That certainly didn't help the cause for an at-large berth into the NCAA tournament. As far as the Big Ten tournament, the 2025 Big Ten baseball tournament bracket was released on Saturday.
Michigan is the No. 7 seed. The 12 teams have been separated into four pools of three. Michigan is in the same pool as second-seeded UCLA, as well as 11th-seeded Illinois. The winner of each three-team pool will advance to the semifinals. It's single-elimination from there.
The easiest path to the semifinals is winning both games. So knocking off Illinois on Tuesday, in the opening game of the tournament (Thursday, 10 AM CST) will be essential.
Michigan softball, Wolverines tennis knocked out of NCAA tournaments
Michigan softball won the opening game of the NCAA tournament against UCF in dramatic fashion, with a late rally. However, Texas was too strong for Michigan softball. The third-ranked Longhorns defeated U-M 16-4 in a second-round game.
UCF paid back Michigan for the first-round defeat, knocking the Wolverines off 10-8 in an elimination game. There were five lead changes but the Knights took control in the fifth inning and didn't look back.
The Michigan Wolverines were also knocked out in the national semifinals of women's tennis. Texas A&M, the defending national champs, ended Michigan's run with a 4-1 defeat. Emily Sartz-Lunde got a singles win for Michigan, but the Wolverines lost the doubles point 7-5. The Aggies won two other close matches.
It was the first time the Wolverines had ever reached the final four of women's tennis. They also won the Big Ten championship in 2025.
