An important decision for Michigan's seven-foot breakout player is looming. Aday Mara is projected to go as high as a lottery pick in the NBA Draft. Therefore, Michigan basketball head coach Dusty May has to Google the country for someone who can fill the void, assuming Mara departs for the league.

There are over 1,600 names that have entered the portal, but one that is being linked to the Wolverines who is familiar with that state of Michigan. From early indications it is being rumored that Morez Johnson Jr. could be considering staying, which would open the door for May to explore the portal and find Detroit native Aiden Sherrell.

Coach May and his staff got a close look at him in the Sweet 16. He was a breakout star for the Crimson Tide who scored 26 against Arkansas in a double overtime thriller. Sherrill can shoot from beyond the arc as well. He was 41% from there in Alabama's sweet 16 run.

Sherrill scored in double figures 20 times as a sophomore. Coming out of high school, Michigan offered him a scholarship and it's worth noting that the top 25 recruit had dreams of playing for the Wolverines. It would be a match made in heaven for Sherrill and May because of how coach May has molded Mara and Danny Wolf into NBA first round picks. Factor in the return of Johnson Jr. to the lineup and Sherrill would fill the gaping void left by Mara.

Michigan are also hoping to land big fish like of John Blackwell, Flory Bidunga, but if they can't reel him in, then Sherrill would be a great consolation prize. NIL money and the fact that they are fresh off a National Championship should not deter anyone from joining the maize and blue at the moment.
