Michigan football has suffered another departure to the transfer portal, as a two-year starter Zeke Berry, has entered his name into the portal, according to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports.
Berry, who has started for Michigan football the past two seasons, will have one year left to play after signing with Michigan in the 2022 class.
Berry has been solid at cornerback for the Wolverines. He moved there during the 2024 season, and had 70 tackles, three interceptions and six pass breakups over the past two seasons.
Berry wasn't exactly a name you expected to see in the portal. But with one season left, it makes sense. He could be open to a return, based on who the secondary coach is going to be. Yet, the versatile defensive back, who could play cornerback or safety, will have no shortage of suitors.
Berry wasn't Michigan football's top cornerback this season. Jyaire Hill was that guy, but you could do a lot worse than Berry as a second starter. For one, he's a good tackler. He's got decent ball skills, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was a strong market for him.
Berry is the fourth Michigan football player to enter the transfer portal on Friday. Cole Sullivan was the first, although he left open the door to a return. Elijah Dotson and Jasper Parker, two 2025 signees, have also entered the portal.
Semaj Morgan is another veteran who's leaving the program. That move probably makes sense for both sides after he struggled with drops and fumbles in 2025.
