We all have our favorite teams; sometimes they stay the same from childhood, all the way till we are adults, and sometimes they change. For some athletes, there are hopes of playing for their favorite teams, and sometimes they hope to play for the favorite teams of their family members.
That happens to be the case for one 2028 recruit, who just received an offer from Michigan. Five-star wide receiver Lorenzo McMullen Jr. is rated as the No. 11 recruit in the Class of 2028, and even though many coaches are focused on the 2027 recruiting cycle, there is no forgetting about the class of 2028, as right now is the time to be handing out offers.
McMullen is one of the top wide receivers in the Class of 2028 and would be a great addition for the future of Michigan's offense, which could be more of a passing offense with the addition of 2027 quarterback commit Kamden Lopati. The best part of the offer to McMullen is his reaction, as he has some family ties to Michigan.
"I was very happy because Michigan was my dad’s favorite team since I was little,” McMullen said.

Lorenzo McMullen Jr.'s childhood connection to Michigan could land him in Ann Arbor
There is still a lot of time between now and when McMullen would most likely be making a sort of commitment for his college career, but getting to play for Michigan could be a dream. With the type of talent McMullen has, he certainly will bring in a load of offers.
McMullen has already seen a huge load of offers come in from numerous Power 4 schools, including a few Big Ten programs with Michigan. The No. 29 prospect in the Class of 2028, according to 247Sports Composite rankings, will probably see more offers come in the coming months, especially as more focus shifts to 2028 prospects.
The Cincinnati native recorded 41 receptions for 737 yards and 20 touchdowns in his sophomore season. That means McMullen scored on nearly half of the receptions he had this past season, making him a great target for quarterbacks.
Michigan has yet to land a 2028 commit, but it isn't for a lack of trying, as Whittingham has handed out a total of 135 offers, and McMullen is one of 15 offers to wide receivers. With McMullen being one of the higher-rated recruits in the Class of 2028 and a great candidate to receive that full five-star rating from 247Sports in the coming months, Whittingham will have a fight on his hands for these receivers.
If Michigan can prove that the offense can rely more on the passing game than the run game this next season, it could entice more wide receivers to choose the Wolverines. Let's hope that McMullen's childhood ties to watching his dad be a Michigan fan for so many years can give the Wolverines a leg up in this recruitment.
