Bryce Underwood hasn't walked the walk

Bryce Underwood is the least of Michigan's problems. Let's start right there. He was 15 of 24 for 207 yards against USC with two touchdowns and one interception, which should not have happened.

There were some errant throws and some mis-reads. Those things are going to happen but Underwood was overhyped this offseason and part of it, he did himself.

Remember when he said that college football had never seen a freshman like him, or something akin to that? It was a bold statement and one he hasn't lived up to, yet.

The kid has been solid for a true freshman. He's accounted for eight touchdowns and three turnovers, while throwing for over 200 yards per game on an offense lacking weapons, certainly compared to USC.

But Underwood hasn't even been the most impressive freshman quarterback in the Big Ten. You can see all the talent and all the potential. The production is starting to come, too.

Growing pains were always going to be expected, but through six games, it's hard to say that Underwood has met his own preseason expectations. The entire team needs to play better, and that includes the freshman quarterback.
