The running game just isn't good enough

Michigan football fans thought that Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings were going to be a powerhouse after the USC game but the turns out the Trojans just weren't very good.

Mullings had just eight carries for 16 yards. Donovan Edwards rushed 10 times for 52 yards and that's the second week in a row he's been the better back. Alex Orji had a 26-yard run, which was the longest of the game for the second week in a row.

Still, Orji got only six carries. Michigan won't run the zone read and hasn't found a way to take advantage of the way defenses play Orji. The other five Orji runs went for 13 yards.

Michigan's plan near the goal line hasn't changed from last season. The Wolverines want to ram it in the end zone but they don't have the same offensive line or Blake Corum.

It's time to give up the idea that Michigan can run on anyone because it can't. The Wolverines haven't run the ball well for about a month and it's probably not going to suddenly change.
