When will the NCAA's decision come down?
We could have highlighted some other things. The running back competition will be interesting. The defensive line and linebacker rooms should be just as good as last season, and Wink Martindale won't have an adjustment period in year two.
There are all reasons to feel really good about this Michigan defense. If Underwood can add a passing element, mix in the run, and most importantly, take care of the ball, 10 wins is realistic.
One big unknown, though, is what punishment the NCAA will hand down to Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore. After the hearing in June, the NCAA could issue its punishment at any time. Michigan has proposed a two-game suspension (Central Michigan and Nebraska).
However, I have a hard time believing the NCAA will accept what Michigan wants. That feels like the starting point of a negotiation. The NCAA will probably try to suspend Moore for three or four games.
U-M could accept that, but even two games without Moore, who would also miss the entire week of practice, seems excessive for deleted text messages, which were still turned over.
Moore shouldn't serve a singe game suspension. The NCAA probably won't accept that, so a two-game suspension will probably be the middle ground. I wonder if it will get moved up to the start of the season, which will change the tenure of fall camp.
Michigan fans just want to move on, and hopefully, that ending will come soon.
