What about the wide receivers?

The wide receiver position has been a hot topic of conversation all offseason. Did Michigan football do enough in the transfer portal to upgrade the position?

Donaven McCulley has drawn some comparisons to Nico Collins. He's also wearing the No. 1 this season, which only raises the expectations.

McCulley had one good season with Indiana, totaling 644 receiving yards on 48 receptions. The 6-foot-5 Indiana transfer will be counted as the No. 1 target.

Others need to emerge, though. Fred Moore caught a touchdown pass in the ReliaQuest Bowl, giving a glimpse into what he can do. I've always thought Moore was going to out-play his recruiting rankings, and believe he's one of the more underrated players on the roster.

It's a make-or-break season for Semaj Morgan. Anthony Simpson is another transfer who had 792 receiving yards for UMass in 2023. If the Wolverines can get that guy this season, this wide receiver group will be much better than expected.

And that's one position that needs to overachieve if this team is going to have a chance of making the College Football Playoff.
