5-star Michigan football signee quickly shoots down rumors after Sherrone Moore news

The rumors are already running rampant.

One of the biggest questions in the wake of the Sherrone Moore firing, is what will happen to the 2026 recruiting class?

Players will surely have the ability to ask out of their scholarship agreements or letters of intent, or whatever they sign these days.

Regardless, I'm sure if a player wants out, Michigan will accommodate that. The one caveat is that you don't know how NIL factors into that and what sort of agreements have been made.

Beyond that, holding onto 2026 will be a major focus. Michigan held a call with recruits to discuss the situation and answer questions. Some 2026 signees have already reaffired their commitments, which is a good thing.

Four-star defensive lineman McHale Blade is one (via The Wolverine). Another one of them is Tommy Fraumann. They have each said they are sticking with the program. Hopefully, others feel the same way.

One of the most important is five-star running back Savion Hiter. The top-ranked running back in the 2026 class, and the No. 8 overall recruit, pushed back on a rumor that he had asked out of his agreement to play for Michigan football.

"Just be lying," Hiter wrote on social media with a laughing emoji. That doesn't mean that he's going to stay but it feels like a good sign. If Tony Alford is on the staff, Hiter will probably stick around.

With so much up in the air, including the future of Bryce Underwood, Michigan needs to act quickly to land its next head coach, who can hopefully keep this talented class of recruits together.
