Michigan football held its spring game on Saturday, and one of the talking points after the game was five-star running back Savion Hiter.
The former five-star, we should say, who is now a Michigan football player, ran in front of the Wolverine faithful for the first time and was impressive.
Hiter was the second-leading rusher on the day for the Wolverines with 10 attempts for 44 yards. Here is just one example of his runs during the spring game, where he fought off a few tacklers.
The freshman who enrolled early has added 20 pounds of muscle this spring. Jake Butt also said via the broadcast that Kyle Whittingham said Hiter has the best contact balance he's ever seen.
Savion Hiter makes bold statement after Michigan spring game
Hiter averaged 4.4 yards per attempt. He certainly showed enough in the game and this spring that fans should expect him to be a big part of the offense moving forward. Hiter has been praised for his pass protection and his ability as a receiver, yet his most valuable trait is his running ability.
“I feel like nobody can tackle me on the field," Hiter said.
It certainly wasn't easy for Hiter to be taken down by one player. Even on the run shown above, he didn't get a ton of yards, but made something out of nothing. Spring games are hard to judge. The starting offensive line wasn't together, and the offensive system is new.
You can see that Hiter has it, though. He's turned heads all spring, and Whittingham called him one of Michigan's most positive developments. On Saturday, Michigan football fans could see why.
