No fly zone

The end zone will prove to be a no-fly zone for New Mexico against Michigan football. Layne had 14 touchdown passes compared to four interceptions last season for Idaho. He's a solid player and the running back is good, too.

But Michigan's front seven is just too damn good. I don't know that there is a better front seven in all of college football, even without Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant.

Six defensive tackles will play. Each could start. Derrick Moore and TJ Guy are future NFL players, along with Ernest Hausmann and Jaishawn Barham, at linebacker. The backup linebackers, Cole Sullivan and Jimmy Rolder, would start for plenty of Big Ten teams.

The secondary should be able to limit any big plays in the passing game. It's hard to see New Mexico slowing down the Michigan pass rush.

New Mexico will find the end zone. It just won't happen until the first team is done for the day.
