Concerns have been growing about whether or not this new coaching staff can develop four and five-star players at a much more demanding job than Utah. With the way that Jason Beck's offense flows, this should be a cinch. Devon Dampier was on the cusp of a 1,000 yard season at Utah, while Bryce Underwood captured around 400 yards on the ground as a freshman. We've heard plans that Beck wants to run more with Underwood anyways. The bar was not set to high to begin with under Davis Warren either.
Showcase a running game that can lead the nation in rushing
If Utah can finish second in the country rushing the football, then Michigan can surely surpass that feat with an upgrade of talent to flaunt. Underwood, Jordan Marshall and Savion Hiter have a merciless schedule, but are provided with some road graters, that specialize in run blocking, to lead their way.
Unleash John Henry Daley to a 10 plus sack season
Depending upon which stat tracker you keep score with Derrick Moore was around the 10 sack plateau in 2025. Transfer John Henry Daley was well above that pace before he got hurt. In fact he was leading the country in sacks when that adversity hit him. In 2025, Jack Kelly had 10 sacks for BYU's defense under new coordinator Jay Hill. So if Henry Daley is 100 percent as advertised to start the season, 10 sacks or more shouldn't be a problem.
Develop a ballhawk with five or more interceptions
Over the last two seasons nobody has had more than three interceptions for the Wolverines. In 2025, Jackson Bennee had four interceptions, which lead the way for the Utes. As for Hill's defense in Provo over the last two seasons, he's had multiple players with at least three or more takeaways through the air. Put it all together and now they get to mentor some of the most gifted players that Hill or Whittingham have ever had the pleasure of coaching in the secondary.
