3 transfer quarterbacks for Michigan Football to ponder

A bridge quarterback would help the development of Bryce Underwood make the jump from high school to college even easier.

3. Cade McNamara, Iowa

With the pickings getting slimmer by the minute McNamara doesn't seem like a bad option anymore. The once Michigan man who saved Jim Harbaugh's job and rescued Michigan football from obscurity, could come back and reignite his career under Chip Lindsey.

At Michigan, McNamara had his most beneficial season. The staff could use him in the same way as last time when they brought along J.J. McCarthy as his understudy. I realize that Michigan gave up on him two years ago, but time heals wounds and welcoming him back with open arms and competing for championships is something Michigan can realistically offer him now.

In a perfect world Michigan would have already offered the likes of a Maalik Murphy or a Miller Moss, but they are trying to choose wisely because this time they have a can't miss backup plan in place.

The other option would be to enter wait-and-see mode. With most of the top signal callers coming off the board so quickly, Michigan football could be patient and see who hits the portal in the spring. The final alternative would be to let Underwood start with no proven backup. In that scenario, with so much pressure on Underwood and the staff, there's no way they would make that mistake twice.
