The Michigan basketball season starts tonight and here are three thoughts on Dusty May's first season, as well as a prediction.

Expect a fun brand of basketball

Dusty May has said that he wants to play a fun brand of basketball and after watching the preseason games, it seems as though that will prove to be accurate.

This Michigan basketball team has shooters and will shoot a ton of 3-pointers. Vlad Goldin will get plenty of chances too, but you should expect lots of quality shooting, passing, and overall ball movement.

There was way too much dribbling happening over the past two seasons. That will change dramatically under May. He's not John Beilein but his style of play will remind Michigan basketball fans of the former Wolverines head coach.

U-M fans had to suffer through a lot of basketball that was hard to watch. That shouldn't be the case this season. The ball will move. Shots will be made and the tempo should be much quicker. Whether the wins follow is to be determined, but fans should appreciate the style of play.

I have a feeling recruits will too.

Two Michigan basketball predictions

I was going to give one prediction but I actually have two: Michigan will make the NCAA tournament. Second, Vlad Goldin and Roddy Gayle will be All-Big Ten (first, second or third team). Gayle is the X-factor for this team but if he shoots 33-35 percent from 3-point range compared to 28 percent last season, he could be a first-teamer and one of the most dynamic scorers in the conference.
