3. Win the turnover battle

Things were going smoothly in Seattle when the turnover bug hit Jack Tuttle in the fourth quarter. If Michigan doesn't give it up, then they probably win that game.

Overall Michigan football has lost the turnover battle in every game, except for two this season. Both were wins, but close ones. Last year they lost the turnover battle twice in the first three games and none afterwards.

The problem is Luke Altmyer doesn't turn the ball over and Michigan is prone to. The good thing is that Illinois has lost the turnover battle in three straight outings. You could make a case that they could have lost all three, but that is no longer viable. This one might come down to who takes the ball away from the other team in crunch time, just like Washington did.

In the 2022 victory Michigan turned it over once, on the play that Blake Corum was injured for the year. Michigan didn't have Donovan Edwards or Kalel Mullings to fall back on that day. If it comes down to a kick to win it, then the Wolverines can trust Dominic Zvada, like they did Jake Moody on that cold November afternoon.
