3. Winning ugly is Sherrone Moore's forte
Despite the two turnovers in the red zone, Michigan's offense could have won by a wider margin on Saturday. They were in range to put seven more on the board in the waning moments, but out of respect for Purdue, chose to kneel it instead. Through 22 games as head coach, Sherrone Moore sure has had a lot of those awkward moments to deal with.
Moore uttered in the postgame that it was frustrating, but its better to win and have something to work on for the next two weeks. Offensively Moore has to simplify things for Bryce Underwood, especially with two trap games coming on the road. The freshman is playing not much better than Davis Warren was a year ago at this point.
Purdue pushed Michigan's defense around as well. To make matters worse the Boilermakers were without their top running back. That type of execution from the defense feels like a losing effort. On special teams, Michigan really misses Tommy Doman. The ex-Wolverine had a punt on Saturday against Georgia for 65 yards, while Hudson Hollenbeck had two that were nearly blocked.
