Nine minutes into the Elite 8 encounter Michigan was down two when they turned on their jets. What followed was a 21-0 run that effectively ended Tennessee's chances. Six minutes elapsed until the Volunteers were able to stop the drought. The lead ballooned to 34 in the second half, and the fat lady was singing for Indy. Here are three takeaways from Michigan's cakewalk to the final four.

Michigan has shot 50% or better in 15 games this season

For the second time this year, Michigan has eclipsed the 50% shooting mark over a four-game stretch. They did it in Las Vegas and have accomplished it in all four games of March madness too. No team has scored more points than the Wolverines have in these four March wins. They are averaging 95 points per win in this offensive explosion, and their smallest margin of victory was 13.

35 wins is the most that a Big Ten team has had since Wisconsin in 2015

With one more win Michigan can match Wisconsin's win total from a decade ago. Michigan can tie Illinois with two more wins at 37, which the Illini set the last time they were in the final four in 2005. Each win for Michigan continues to break their own program record, that was set by the last Michigan team to be in the final four in 2018. A national championship would be the cherry on top of it all.

Michigan has not beaten Arizona in 30 years

Now that Tennessee and the Midwest region are in the rearview, Michigan can focus on a team that they haven't beaten since the Lute Olsen era. Arizona won the most recent matchup five years ago. In fact, the last time Arizona topped Michigan, and they went on to win the national championship in Indianapolis as well. It's funny how things work out sometimes, as this is a full-circle moment for both powerhouses that is 30 years in the making. Next Saturday's meeting will be one for the ages.
