Michigan can run the ball
The Huskies have a solid defense. Yet, they have allowed over 100 yards rushing in two of their three Big Ten games. The season average is 3.1 yards per attempt allowed and 82 rushing yards.
It won't be easy to run the ball, but even last week, Michigan was moving the line of scrimmage. The running game was mostly effective; the Wolverines just didn't get many snaps. USC did a great job of playing keep away.
Jordan Marshall had 14 runs for 68 yards. Justice Haynes had 10 for 51 before he left the game. It's not clear if Haynes will play. If he does, you can feel better about the Wolverines having a big day on the ground, which hopefully includes from runs from Bryce Underwood.
Michigan's offense, if it's going to reach its ceiling, needs to allow Bryce to run more. The Wolverines are playing it safe, too much. Underwood doesn't need to carry the ball 10 times per game. Yet, Demond Williams, the Washington QB has 64 non-sack runs this season. Underwood has 24.
That's not enough. Regardless, Michigan can run the ball on Washington. If it doesn't, I wouldn't expect a Michigan victory.
