There was so much hype surrounding Michigan coming out of fall camp, especially on the offensive side of the ball. When the Wolverines were finally able to showcase that hype against Western Michigan in Week 1, it felt like everyone was waiting for someone else to make the big play.

No one wanted to, or at least couldn't, step up against the Broncos, hence the struggles Michigan had against the former MAC champions. Through a miracle and a prayer, the Wolverines eked out the 13-12 win on a literal last-second Hail Mary, but that kind of play won't suffice against No. 11 Oklahoma.

The defense looked like it always does for Michigan: elite. Other than failing to get a takeaway, the Wolverines' defense was on the field for over 40 minutes and only allowed 12 points, keeping Western Michigan out of the end zone. So let's be real, there aren't any defensive players on this list.

Either way, though, here are three players who have to step it up when the Wolverines welcome the Sooners in Week 2.

3. Jake Guarnera

Really, it is the entire offensive line, but as the center and anchor of the line, Jake Guarnera gets named on this list. The entire offensive line needs to step up to allow the run game to take off and open things up for the passing game. While the line game gave Underwood as much time as it could, better protection can always help as well.

This is an offensive that is still gelling together, so it isn't totally surprising to see the struggle, but Guarnera has already stepped up as the leader, saying the offensive line needs to play better for the rest of the offense to get there.

Oklahoma will be tough to face, as the defense, especially the line, is elite. If Michigan's offensive line can keep that pass rush at bay, it could be the difference in this huge matchup.

2. Andrew Marsh

Not only does Andrew Marsh need to step up on the offense, but on special teams as well. A muffed punt on what would have been Michigan's third drive of the game didn't help with the momentum the Wolverines struggled to grab hold of. If Marsh can get some big plays on special teams, it will set up Underwood and the offense with better field position, taking the pressure off a long drive.

On offense, Marsh needs to see the ball more, especially after being the leading receiver a season ago. JJ Buchanan is a star, he clearly proved that as really the only Michigan offensive player to have a good game in Week 1. That means teams are going to target Buchanan defensively, and Marsha has to be a more reliable option.

1. Bryce Underwood

This is no surprise, as Bryce Underwood has to step up for the offense to find some success. Even Kyle Whittingham said that Underwood needs to improve, hinting that his job is not permanent as the starter. Underwood didn't seem fazed by it, and honestly didn't seem to care, so if he doesn't step up, changes could be coming.

Underwood needs to get comfortable like he was on the first drive vs. Western Michigan. He kept his feet calm, got through his reads, and ran the ball effectively when called to. If Underwood doesn't step up his game, it could be a long one against No. 11 Oklahoma.
