Jordan Marshall
The running game through two weeks hasn't been good enough. Michigan football did run for over 200 yards against New Mexico.
The Wolverines are averaging 173 yards per game, as well as 5.4 yards per carry, but a huge chunk of that yardage came on three runs by Justice Haynes that all covered at least 56 yards.
It's great to have three explosive runs. Haynes is proving to be a home-run hitter. Yet, his running back mate, Jordan Marshall, has been struggling to find his footing.
Marshall hasn't gotten the best blocking from the offensive line. Still, the sophomore has managed just 57 yards on 20 carries. The former top-50 recruit is simply too good for that.
The running back needs more help from the coaching staff and the offensive line. Michigan has run way too much into stacked boxes. Marshall had to deal with the in the ReliaQuest Bowl. That was supposed to end this season.
Hopefully, the offensive play-calling will be more inventive on Saturday. Marshall is one who could benefit. Either way, he needs to be more productive.
