Don't let the underdog get confident

This game should be a runaway to the point that we don't even see Michigan football playing Bryce Underwood in the fourth quarter. That's the goal.

However, Michigan can't afford to overlook the Lobos. Jason Eck is a really good coach. Idaho was a terrible program before he came, and turned it into an FCS contender.

New Mexico has a huge talent disadvantage. But this New Mexico team has enough experience to keep things interesting, especially if Michigan football isn't as sharp as it needs to be.

Underwood is going to be amped up in his first start. It would be easy for him to try and live up to the hype on every throw. I'm sure he's been cauioned against that, and frankly, the moment has never been too big for him.

Yet, Michigan fans know anything can happen, on any given Saturday. A fast start will help put this game away early, which is what's expected to happen, and that's another key but the longer New Mexico is allowed to hang around, if at all, that's when things can get a little scary.
