Last year Andrew Marsh and others entered as freshmen and became instant starters by the end of the Michigan football season. This year, a few names could do the same thing, including another receiver alongside him. Besides the obvious five stars like Savion Hiter and Carter Meadows, who are expected to contribute, who is going to be the next Andrew Marsh?
3 freshman who could start by the end of the season
Titan Davis-DL
Enow Etta, Trey Pierce and Jonah Lea'ea are the three definite tackles who will be rotating in and out of the lineup this fall. Larry Black's unit will need more bodies than just three. That's where Davis enters the discussion. Davis is ranked higher than all of them coming out, except Etta. He had more sacks in his senior year than all three had last year combined. His wingman, Alister Vallejo, who has drawn comparisons to Mason Graham, is another lineman who could crack the lineup this fall.
Salesi Moa-WR
Listed as one of Utah's loftiest recruits, Moa produced better numbers in high school than Marsh did. It would be made easier if JJ Buchanan stayed at tight end full-time and Moa was second in command behind Marsh in the receiver rotation. Playing both ways really crafted his ball skills. Go back to the spring game and check out the catch that he made with one hand, along with the many he grabbed in the all-star circuits. Buchanan is a prime example for Moa to follow. He became the best freshman tight end on Utah's team a year ago.
Malakai Lee-OL
If size were considered as the only measurable to start, then Lee would be a bona fide no-brainer to start. These Polynesian-type players thrive in Kyle Whittingham's system, and in case Lee doesn't warrant time this season, then he'll be a lock to start in 2027.
Luckily, Lee has Jim Harding to learn from and practice against defenders like John Henry Daley, Nate Marshall, and Carter Meadows, should he remain on the outside. Injuries could also provide Lee with an opportunity, assuming Andrew Babalola isn't 100% by camp.
