Michigan football has seen a lot of changes in the last three years, with three different head coaches, a couple of scandals, and one National Championship. With all of that behind the Wolverines, new head coach Kyle Whittingham is solely focused on the future in Ann Arbor and building not just a winning culture, but a culture players want to come to Michigan for.
With the 2027 recruiting cycle beginning to wrap up, Whittingham is already hitting the ground running with the class of 2028, already landing one recruit, who just so happens to be the top kicker in the class. Whittingham is certainly swinging for the fences when it comes to offers, already handing out a total of 155.
One of those offers went to the No. 1 tight end in the class, four-star recruit Tytan McNeal. McNeal is one of 12 tight ends to receive an offer from the Wolverines, but he is the best player at the position. McNeal was happy to receive the offer from Whittingham and assistant tight ends coach Ali'i Noimatalolo, but also commented on the culture he already sees at Michigan.
"It's very hard to come to a new team as the staff did and establish a culture that quickly, but they did, and I love it," McNeal said of Michigan's coaching staff.

Those are great words coming from a 2028 recruit who has yet to even see Michigan play a single down of competitive football under this coaching staff. For a recruit to say that so soon after a new staff has taken over really speaks to what Whittingham is doing in Ann Arbor.
Kyle Whittingham is building something special at Michigan and it can't be ignored
Clearly, Whittingham is already impressing future prospects, as seen by McNeal's words about the new Michigan coaching staff. While the 2027 recruiting class may not be as strong as fans would have wanted, even thought is currently a top 25 class, the 2028 class could prove what Whittingham really has to offer.
Whittngham took over a Michigan program that had a lot more cracks than anyone realized, and in just a few short months has still built a Top 25 recruiting class, and is already making a few ways with the 2028 class. Michigan has already welcomed quite a few 2028 recruits to campus this summer, and could see even more in the fall once the season actually begins.
The players have already talked about the culture Whititngham has built in the locker room, and it is hard not to notice that something special is brewing. Michigan has seen its struggles in the last few years, but wth Whittingham now at the helm, it feels like all of that can be squarely put behind the Wolverines and a bright future is ahead.
