3 takeaways from Michigan basketball win over Iowa

3. Michigan’s offense was plentiful
Six players scored in double-digits for the Wolverines on Sunday. Tray Jackson was a bucket away from joining the bunch. He and Will Tschetter were impactful off the bench without Jaelin Llewellyn available. Llewellyn’s string of bad luck continues, but luckily he won’t be gone for the season like he was in 2022.
Olivier Nkamhoua had a double-double for the winning team. That’s now seven straight games for him with 12 or more points. Nine out of his 10 appearances in a maize and blue uniform have been for 12 plus every time out. Unfortunately Michigan is only off to a disappointing 5-5 start during that span.
Michigan basketball improves to 3-0 when they score over 90 or so on the year. That may be the magic mark that the offense needs to eclipse if their defense is not pulling their weight.
The offense exploded for 55 points in the second 20 minutes, but the defense did allow one three-pointer short of 50 points themselves. The Wolverines have no more margin for error with five losses already in place.
